Veronicastrum virginicum 'Cupid'

Height x Spread: 150cm x 50cm

New to the nursery in 2016, 'Cupid' stands out from other forms of Veronicastrum virginicum due to its chunkier flower spikes, intense purple in bud opening to a deep lavender blue, arranged in whorls or rings like satellites around a planet.

This rich and almost luminous display lasts from July through September, with spikes further down the stem opening as the summer progresses.  Tough and hardy, 'Cupid' is a versatile plant, its height and form adding strength and vertical interest to the back of a border, whilst its nectar rich flowers make it ideal for attracting bees to a wildlife garden.  An excellent cut flower, it performs best in a damp but free draining soil in partial shade or sun.
