1. Alchemilla mollis x 3. A haze of vivid, yellow-green flowers appears over a long time in summer. These bob just above the large mid-green leaves, which look wonderful with rain or dew drops on them. A great plant for garden situations where nothing else seems to work...
2. Aruncus aethusifolius x 3. Sought after for its attractive neat mounds of filigree foliage and arching plumes of delicate creamy-white flowers produced in early summer. Once it has finished flowering leave the seedheads on, as they add structural interest, and as the autumn approaches both they and the foliage turn the most amazing oranges and reds.
3. Astrantia 'Burgundy Manor' x 6. Large and very beautiful dark red flowers with centres like pincushions, are held on reddish black stems high above the deep green foliage. In full bloom in mid summer, this strong variety will establish itself quickly and repeat flower.
4. Bistorta amplexicaulis 'JS Caliente'PBR x 2. During summer spires of small, fiery red flowers burst onto the scene. Large pointed green leaves slowly turn to red in autumn.
5. Heuchera cylindrica 'Greenfinch' x 3. 'Greenfinch' produces masses of upright flower spikes during summer, each with a cluster of green tubular flowers. These imposing blooms are very popular with flower arrangers. Unusually the foliage of this Heuchera plays second fiddle to the flower, forming a low mound of evergreen, shallowly lobed green leaves.
6. Lythrum virgatum 'Dropmore Purple' x 3. Narrow hairless mid-green leaves cover the erect stems beneath the purple flower spikes, which bloom throughout summer. A fantastic plant for pollinators. Performs best in moisture retentive soil but will tolerate drier growing conditions.
7. Veronicastrum virginicum 'Lavendelturm' x 2. Slender spires of stunning pale lilac flowers that bloom during late summer into autumn. Narrow lance-shaped leaves form whorls all the way up the tall erect stems. 'Lavendelturm' is great for adding architectural structure to borders, in either sun or partial shade. It is quite happy in any reasonable soil. It is tolerant of salt spray making it ideal for coastal locations. Divide during spring .
For Mail Order. Our mail order team is very small, so we’re unable to advise you on bespoke design, the specific numbers of plants you’ll need for borders which are bigger or smaller than the plans detail, or to complete quotes for online purchasing. We can only do this type of work if you visit the nursery. If you wish to purchase the plants online, use the links in the plans to find the plants. We may not have all the plants listed on the plans for mail order delivery at any one time. Our nursery shop often has alternatives and substitutes, but we can only advise and provide these if you visit us.
