'China Blue' has a mat-forming growth habit, it is summer deciduous, which means its top growth dies away after flowering - don't forget where you planted it and accidentally dig it up.
Woodland conditions are perfect for this perennial, it flourishes in humus-rich soils in dappled shade. This plant is perfect for planting beneath shrubs and trees and combines well with ferns or hostas.
