Description

Digitalis × mertonensis

Height x Spread: 90cm x 30cm

Commonly known as the Strawberry Foxglove, this perennial bears spires of soft yellow tipped strawberry ice cream pink tubular flowers with darker veined throats. Robust and reliably perennial, this plant was first bred in 1925 from a crossing of Digitalis grandiflora and Digitalis purpurea.

It makes an intriguing and unusual addition to a woodland garden, but also looks wonderful in a cottage garden setting. Bees love it. Digitalis x mertonensis performs best in a fertile soil enriched with humus in part shade or sun.
