Commonly known as Turkish Sage, Phlomis russeliana is a deciduous perennial. Stout stems bear whorls of two-lipped yellow flowers during the summer. Beneath the blooms are ovate silvery-green hairy leaves.
This plant would look sublime in your south-facing borders, brightening up your flower beds with its summery yellow flowers. It is a superb perennial for coastal gardens, it flourishes in the full sun and well-drained soils and will create good ground cover when planted en masse. If left the flowers stems provide good winter structure and look fantastic when covered with frost or snow. Division can be carried out during the spring.
