Very pretty flower spikes, of delicate shell-pink open flowers with frilly petals, are held high on sturdy, branching stems above mid green, scalloped basal foliage. This classic cottage garden plant is a great all round performer and very easy to grow. It flowers profusely during summer, but if the faded flowerstems are cut right down to the ground, will produce a second flush.

It provides valuable vertical structure to the middle of a herbaceous border, without overpowering its neighbours. Very attractive to wildlife, we recommend combining it with dusky purples, soft blues and deeper pinks to highlight its delicacy. It thrives in a light, fairly fertile, free draining soil with some moisture retention, preferably in full sun, but can cope with partial shade.
